Role Summary
Sitting on our Executive team, the QEHS Director will ensure that we operate a high-quality, compliance and safe business and remains compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will ensure that the business maintains its external accreditations that allow us to operate competitively and ensure standardisation and further integration of the Business Management Systems across operational regions, maintaining existing certifications. You will manage the auditing relationships with external partners and ensure we retain its certifications, permits, approvals and licenses and will continually track external market developments and adapt our approach to compliance accordingly.
You will lead on HSW in the business, including developing and implementing a fresh, innovative and engaging strategy, providing competent advice to the business and ensuring the group is at forward thinking at all times. You will be developing and delivering continuous improvement programmes, as well as developing and promoting an effective and positive HSW culture across the group. You will be the external face to our regulators, such as the EA, NRW, SPHA and HSE. You'll also report for the exec team and wider business on a full spectrum of compliance activities to provide an end-to-end picture of the business's current situation and any risks that arise.
You'll lead and develop a team of QEHS professionals coaching, mentoring, and inspiring the team to deliver the strategic direction, ensuring and monitoring targets to ensure success.
Finally - as a member of the Executive team you will be responsible for overall leadership of the company; shaping the strategy and direction of the business as we to take our business to the next level and to continue driving the transition to a net zero and sustainable economy.
Key Requirements
We're looking for an experienced individual with a strong compliance or auditing background with practical experience in regulatory reporting, management reporting and audit management. You should have a practical health and safety background and have a thorough understanding of site level realities in implementing strategic changes to suit business priorities.
Firsthand knowledge of working in a fast-paced multi-site environment in a similar or transferable operational industry such as a manufacturing or production would be beneficial.
You'll be a collaborative visible leader with excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels, who is used to leading & inspiring a team of professionals across a range of commercial disciplines.
